Karen Foley

Karen Foley has over fourteen years of professional experience dedicated to working with trauma and the body. She has worked with adolescents and adults in hospital settings, VA Medical Centers and World Relief. Her graduate studies and research in Movement Therapy & Counseling Psychology focused on body/mind techniques for PTSD symptoms with combat veterans, survivors of military sexual assault and refugees of war. She is the co-creator of Battle Body Retraining, a body-based mindfulness series developed to reduce the impact of trauma on post-deployed veterans. Her original research was presented at the Dance/Movement Therapy Conference, the International Studies for Somatic Stress conference in 2007, and the IVAW (Iraq Veterans Against the War) meeting in 2009. Karen is trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and has studied with leading mind-body trauma experts such as Bessel van der Kolk and Daniel Siegel. Her knowledge of the body/mind connection is uniquely informed by her previous practice as a licensed massage therapist and study of Shambhala meditation practices.

Michele Angello, Ph.D


Michele Angello, Ph.D. works with gender-variant and transgender youth and adults. She offers both individual and group therapy, as well as family therapy. In addition, she offers corporate education and training on a variety of issues regarding sexuality. Dr. Michele Angello has presented her work and experience with transgender youth and with children of transitioning parents on an international level. She facilitates several monthly support groups for transgender adults, youth, and parents. Dr. Angello is often requested to speak as an expert on transgender youth issues to universities, corporations, and the media. She has appeared on Larry King Live, the Tyra Banks Show, and various documentaries on transgender issues. She also developed the first graduate course in the U.S. that focused on clinical issues in transgender communities.
